Accreditation & Rules

How do I get an event approved for CLE accreditation?

The Arkansas Bar Association does not review or approve CLE courses. Approval is handled by the Arkansas Supreme Court Office of Professional Programs. Visit their website for more information.

More information is available on the Office of Professional Programs website

Where do I find the CLE Rules and Regulations?

The Rules and Regulations governing CLE are available on the Office of Professional Programs website

CLE Requirements & Hours

How many hours of CLE do I need each year?

Every attorney must complete 12 hours of CLE annually, including at least 1 hour of ethics.

Attorneys or judges who attain age 70 or complete 40 years of licensure as an Arkansas lawyer are exempt from CLE requirements. (See Rules for Minimum Continuing Legal Education, Rule 3.)

How can I find out how many hours I have?

Only the Arkansas Supreme Court Office of Professional Programs can provide your official CLE hours.

Contact them at 501-374-1855 or visit the Office of Professional Programs website

Speaking at CLE & Course Materials

How many hours of credit do I get for speaking?

Solo speakers receive 4 hours of CLE credit for each hour as a speaker for the initial presentation, and 2 hours of credit for subsequent repeat presentations of the same material.

Panel members receive 3 hours of credit if materials are prepared.

To sign up to present a CLE, contact Kristen Frye at 501-801-5678 or kfrye@arkbar.com.

Do I need written materials, even for webinars?

Yes. All CLE programs require written materials. Each speaker must provide course materials for accreditation. For panels, only one presenter is required to submit.

A brief topical outline alone is not sufficient; materials should include references to cases, statutes, and practical guidance.

Webinars & Course Materials

What do I need to participate in a webinar?

You’ll need a device with a strong internet connection—preferably a computer—with audio/speakers. The audio portion is heard through your device.

Will there be printed materials at in-person CLE events?

No. To be more environmentally friendly, ArkBar provides all course materials electronically. A link to the materials will be emailed prior to the event so you can download or print them if desired.

To purchase CLE materials, contact Lisa McCormick at 501-801-5661 or lmccormick@arkbar.com.

Attendance & Verification

How is my attendance at a virtual CLE verified?

The Office of Professional Programs requires CLE providers, including ArkBar, to verify and submit actual time attended for each participant using the electronic verification report.

Please report only the time you were in the virtual classroom viewing the CLE presentation on your individual device.

To view the time submitted on your behalf, sign in at www.arkbar.com, go to MYARKBAR, and click on My CLE History. Please allow up to 10 business days after the CLE for your hours to appear.

Please note: The Arkansas Bar Association is an accredited sponsor under the Arkansas Continuing Legal Education Board and does not seek CLE accreditation in other states.
