What advice would you give to a first-year attorney? Don’t let your doubts, worries, or failures stop you. Everyone doubts themselves, worries, and fails. Those who learn from the doubts, worries, and failures, and move forward, are the ones who rise to the top. Also, while pursuing success, don’t lose sight of yourself, your compassion for others, and the relationships with your friends and family members.
Was there an event or class that made you want to go to law school? Growing up, I always tried to reason my way out of whatever trouble I found myself in, so my family consistently pushed me toward law school. I took their advice and tried it out. Turns out I made the correct decision.
If you were not practicing law, what would your dream job be? Not sure if this qualifies as a legitimate “job”, but I’ve always wanted to a be a professional retiree so that I could do whatever I wanted to do whenever I wanted to do it.

What advice would you give to a first-year attorney? Find a mentor. Every area of law is so specific and different. It is important to have someone show you the ropes and act as a guide as you learn your practice area. They don’t teach a lot of the everyday knowledge you need in law school. I think it is important in the legal profession, as a whole, that we adopt the mentorship model. Also, don’t be afraid of a commission-based position right out of the gate.
Was there an event or class that made you want to go to law school? Other than the TV show Suits? I realized through my business classes the value that a law degree could have within any profession, even if it didn’t mean practicing law. Legal knowledge is pivotal for anyone that runs a business and manages people.
If you were not practicing law, what would your dream job be? Own and captain a catamaran in the Caribbean providing snorkel and sunset tours.

What is your favorite app and why? Audible? I love to read, I always have. Audible makes it easier now as I can listen to audiobooks all the time.
Where do you see the future of the legal profession in five years? Hopefully in a good spot, otherwise we’ll all be in trouble. Joking aside, I think that the profession is going to undergo some changes coming out of the pandemic. It has certainly been a unique experience entering the practice of law during such a time period.
If you were not practicing law, what would your dream job be? A professional hunter/fisherman. Hunting and fishing are my favorite things to do and the ability to be able to do that full time, even if it did not make a lot of money, would be awesome to me.
