Article Implementation Task Force
Ken Gould, Chair:
Recommends legislative and court rule changes
for the effective implementation of Amendment

John F. Stroud,
Jr., Chair: Maintains and improves relations
between the Association and the Arkansas Judicial
Council. In accordance with the Judicial Council's
Constitution, the Committee consists of the
Association's President and five members appointed
by the President. |

Donna C. Pettus,
Chair: Provides an evaluation of the qualifications
of prospective appointees to judicial vacancies
at the request of the Governor and maintains
and furnishes to the Governor a broad-based
current list of attorneys suggested for appointment
as Special Justices on the Arkansas Supreme
Court and the Court of Appeals. |

Logan S. Stafford,
Chair: Responsible for studying and reporting
on reforms of substantive law, improvements
in law practice and the administration of the
courts. Also responsible for reviewing proposed
legislation for inclusion in Association’s legislative
package and making recommendations thereon
to the House of Delegates. |

Mark W. Hodge,
Chair: Promotes the practical understanding
of, and respect for, the law throughout the
State of Arkansas through the development, coordination
and implementation of quality law and civic
education materials and programs. |

David J. Whitaker,
Chair: Works with the University of Arkansas
School of Law and UALR William H. Bowen School
of Law in securing funding for legal education,
keeps abreast of law school concerns and serves
as a Board-of-Visitors at the law schools. |

Sam E. Gibson,
Chair: LAMP will assist the Bar of Arkansas
to provide legal services specific to the needs
of veterans of the United States military forces
and specific to the needs of members of the
active, reserve and National Guard military
forces of the United States and their families. |
Lawyers
Helping Lawyers Committee
Alice F. Lightle,
Chair: Works with the Arkansas Lawyers Helping
Lawyers Program to maintain and improve efforts
to provide assistance and support to lawyers
with emotional, drug or alcohol problems and
encourage them to seek ways to overcome their
problems. |

Paul T. Bennett,
Chair: Gathers information concerning literacy
efforts in Arkansas, assesses the state's literacy
needs, determines and makes recommendations
for ways the Association can help meet these
needs and implements the "Lawyers for Literacy"
program. |
Legal
Services Committee (Civil)
Michael W. Mullane,
Chair: Mission is to improve the availability
of legal services to low-income persons and
work closely with public and private agencies
interested in this objective. |

John A. (Jack)
Davis, III , Chair: Supports the Association's
lobbyist in promoting the enactment of bills
included in the legislative package and acts
to support the Association's position on legislation
affecting law practice in Arkansas. The committee
also considers and decides the Association's
position when the House of Delegates has not
taken a position on legislation under consideration
or expected to be under consideration by the
United States Congress or the Arkansas Legislature
or its interim committees or on proposed initiated
acts that have been proposed by other parties. |
