Paralegals

Paralegal Affiliate membership is open to paralegals and legal support staff who are employed and supervised by an Arkansas Bar Association attorney member. Membership must be applied for in writing.

Dues Structure & Rates - 2024-2025


Standard Dues - $350  
is for all attorneys who do not fall in any other categories.

Income Based Dues - Income of $0-$49,999 - $220  or   Income of $50,000-$100,000 - $300
"Income” for this purpose is law-related salary, wages or income after deducting office overhead and other necessary business expenses but before taxes, FICA, insurance and pension contributions, for the current or immediately preceding year. 

Associate Membership - $350 
Associate members are attorneys who are only licensed in a state(s) other than Arkansas and are residents of Arkansas or are full-time employees of a business organization that regularly does business within Arkansas.

Senior Membership$50
Attorneys at least 75 years old and who have been a member for 10 consecutive years immediately prior to attaining the age of 75.

New Admittee Year 1 - $75
Attorneys admitted between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2024, qualify for this rate.

New Admittee Year 2 - $85
 Attorneys admitted between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023, qualify for this rate.

New Admittee Year 3 - $95
 This rate applies to an attorney's third bar year (July - June) following one's admission to practice. Attorneys admitted between between July 1, 2021, and June 30, 2022.

Law Students - Free
Current law students in good standing at any accredited law school in the state of Arkansas, or residents of the state of Arkansas attending an accredited law school outside the state of Arkansas. Law students receive the benefits of membership at no charge. Law Students can select 2 sections to become a member of at no cost.  

Paralegal Affiliate Membership - $150 
Affiliate membership is open to paralegals and legal support staff who are employed and supervised by an Arkansas Bar Association attorney member.   

Terms of Membership

Membership in the ArkBar runs from July 1 to June 30. Please note that we send reminder notices as renewal time approaches. However, your prompt payment of dues will ensure that you continue to receive all of your benefits in a timely manner. Should your membership lapse, you may reactivate it at any time by becoming current on your dues for the year.

Annual Auto-Renewal
If you select Annual Auto-Renewal, your dues (including the sections, FAL and sustaining contributions you select) will automatically renew annually on July 1. PAC and Instant Membership are excluded. You will receive a notice before the next year’s auto-renewal. New Admittee Year 3 rates will automatically increase to Standard but you may choose to select another dues category.

Monthly AutoPay
Members  have the option of making payments monthly with Monthly AutoPay; each monthly payment must be paid with a credit or debit card; no other forms of payment can be accepted. The annual cost of your membership will be divided equally across 12 months. Members who sign up for Monthly AutoPay agree to pay for the entire bar year. If you register for Monthly AutoPay online before July 1, you will immediately be charged for your first monthly payment for the 2024-2025 bar year (July). Your card will not be charged again until your August payment is due on August 1. Your card will be charged on the first of the month, or the first business day thereafter. If you sign up after July 1, your card will initially be charged for the July payment. On the first of the following month, your card will be charged for the cumulative amount that would have been due between August and the month you signed up for Monthly AutoPay.

 

Non-Deductible Business Expenses - 2024-2025

Federal Law makes part of your membership dues used for lobbying non-deductible as a business expense. 3.27% of dues are non-deductible in the 2024-2025 bar year. All dues and subscriptions are non-refundable.

Payment made to the Association is for your voluntary membership with the Arkansas Bar Association and has no affiliation with your state licensing fee.
