Overview of Law Related Education
The Arkansas Bar Association Law Related Education (LRE) is a service arm of the Bar that has provided teachers, students, lawyers, and others in the legal profession with resources, materials and technical assistance to teach law and citizenship education. Law Related Education helps educators, students, and citizens understand and appreciate the legal system through several programs sponsored by LRE and the Arkansas Bar Association.
A Level Playing Field DVD & Instructors Guide
The Arkansas Bar Association has produced A Level Playing Field: Why the American Legal System Matters to You, which includes a DVD and Instructor’s Guide covering four core principles of the American Judicial System. The material is intended for use in secondary education classes throughout the state of Arkansas. The materials are ideal for Civics, American Government or History, Pre-Law, and other Social Studies courses.
The fast-paced DVD includes sports references and was produced with an eye toward keeping students’ attention and interest. A short excerpt from the DVD can be seen on YouTube at the following site:

Law School for Teachers 8:00am - 4:00pm This seminar offers 6 in-service hours, including 1 hour of Arkansas History. The program is geared towards civics and law-related topics with instructions from Arkansas lawyers, judges, and authors.

The Bar Association is looking for volunteer attorneys and judges to go to local classrooms to present the 20 minute DVD and present a short program to the students.
If you are interested in volunteering your time help educate the youth in your community, please complete a volunteer form, and be sure to check the option “Present a Law Related Education program to a local high school”. An Arkansas Bar Association staff member will follow up with you, add your name to the list of attorney volunteers, and contact you regarding your availability when we receive a request from a school.
